SALT ROCK, WV (October 8, 2009) – Eddie Carrier Jr. earned runner-up honors at this past weekend’s inaugural Dirt Track World Cup Classic at KC Raceway. This weekend Carrier Jr. has a pair of make-up races on tap with the Billy Bob at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex and the Harvest 50 at Skyline Speedway. Both events were postponed from earlier this season due to inclement weather.

Brandon Kinzer and Rob Blair brought the 26 car field to the green at Saturday Night’s Dirt Track World Cup Classic at KC Raceway, with Shane Clanton, Duane Chamberlain, and Eddie Carrier Jr. giving chase. Clanton, Chamberlain, and Carrier Jr. quickly made their way around outside pole sitter Rob Blair. By lap 12 the leaders were beginning to work lap traffic while Kinzer remained in the lead with Clanton right behind. On lap 18, Kinzer would hit heavy traffic at the lead trio would go three wide for the lead at that point. By lap 22 Kinzer would make his way through lap traffic and pull away to a two-car length advantage over Clanton, Chamberlain, and Carrier Jr as the first caution of the event would wave one circuit later.

On the restart, Clanton would take the lead followed by Chamberlain and Carrier Jr. as Kinzer fell back to fourth. As the field saw the halfway point, Clanton began to see lap traffic ahead allowing Chamberlain and Carrier Jr. to close the gap. Clanton would make contact with Aukland while battling for position to bring out the caution.

Clanton pulled away on the restart before once again entering lap traffic around lap 73. Carrier Jr. would make his way around Chamberlain for second on lap 79 and challenged Clanton for the lead on lap 82. For the next ten laps Carrier Jr. rode the inside of Clanton waiting for the right attempt for the lead. Carrier Jr. tried Clanton at the flag stand but Clanton would close the door. On lap 93, Carrier Jr. would move to the outside of Clanton for the lead after several failed attempts from the bottom. With five laps remaining Carrier Jr. would ride the rail around the top side but Shane Clanton would hold on to the top spot to earn the $20,000 payoff.

Eddie Carrier Jr. would finish in second in his Grover Motorsports Rocket Ford Fusion, pole sitter Brandon Kinzer would come home in third, Steve Shaver in fourth, and Steve Casebolt would round out the top five.
